Project Overview

The United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute (USP Terre Haute), located in Terre Haute, Indiana, is a maximum-security federal prison for male inmates. Part of the Federal Correctional Complex, Terre Haute, it is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, under the United States Department of Justice. The facility features a specialized four-story unit designed for housing disciplinary, condemned row, and administrative segregation inmates.

This extensive design-build project comprises six general housing units, accommodating 1,200 beds, along with a special confinement unit. Additionally, the facility includes structures like an outside administration building, internal administration offices, seven guard towers, an emergency operations center, security and support facilities, a central utility plant, and a versatile multi-use building housing the UNICOR factory, food and health services, as well as recreational amenities. Maintenance shops are also part of the facility’s infrastructure.
