Argonne National Laboratory Theory & Computing Sciences
Argonne National Laboratory Theory & Computing Sciences
Project Overview
O’Donnell & Naccarato partnered with Argonne National Laboratory on an addition to its existing Theory and Computing Sciences building. The prestigious U.S. Department of Energy multi disciplinary science and engineering research center is the largest national laboratory by size and scope in the Midwest. The organization leads discovery and powers innovation in a wide range of core scientific capabilities, from high-energy physics and materials science to biology and advanced computer science.
The two-story, 63,000 SF addition contains a data center, computer reveal space, mechanical equipment areas, and other support spaces for the facility. To create a column free first floor data center space, 125-foot roof trusses clear span and support a hung second floor above the data center. The addition will house one of the most powerful computer systems in the United States.
