Project Overview
O’Donnell & Naccarato provided structural design of the 51-story dual hotel tower, Philadelphia’s tallest concrete structure. The 784,470 SF tower is constructed atop a 4-level, below-grade integrated parking garage and houses 753 rooms in total with W Hotel operating the upper most floors and Element Hotel residing below. Multiple school bus-sized, reinforced concrete transfer beams weighing up to 567,000 pounds were installed to create the largest column-free ballroom in the city. The 6 to 9-foot-deep concrete foundation was poured over a 24-hour period and required over 600 cement trucks and crews working around the clock.
