Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

Project Overview

The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, the former villa and estate of businessman James Deering, is a stunning example of Mediterranean Revival architecture designed by F. Burrall Hoffman. Built primarily between 1914 and 1922, the estate features Italian Renaissance gardens, native woodlands, and a historic village outbuildings compound, making it one of the most treasured landmarks in Florida.

O’Donnell & Naccarato has been providing structural engineering services for this National Historic Landmark for nearly three decades. Our work has encompassed nearly every aspect of this vast estate, including its historic buildings, gardens, fountains, and sculptures. Over the years, we have contributed to a wide range of projects, including structural repairs, restorations, enhancements, renovations, and new construction, ensuring that Vizcaya’s architectural and historical integrity is preserved for generations to come.
