Qualified Exterior Wall Inspectors & Local Law 11
What is Local Law 11?

The NYC Façade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) is also known as Local Law 11. This law requires any buildings taller than six stories in NYC to have their façades inspected and repaired on a recurring five-year cycle. This law was founded and ushered into effect to protect pedestrians from falling debris that could cause injury or fatality.

This inspection must be completed by a registered Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI) that is certified by NYC Department of Buildings (DOB).

What Structures Are Affected by This Ordinance?

Buildings greater than 6 stories file depending on the last digit of the respective building’s block number. Over 14,000 buildings in New York City are subject to FISP’s inspection protocols.
